Strengthening of the mouth ring muscles = better performance
Strengthening the mouth ring muscles is extremely important, especially for oboists:
The musculus orbicularis oris is largely responsible for the embouchure and should hold the oboe reed as loosely as possible in a central position. However, due to irregular practice sessions, during longer rehearsals or after a certain age, oboists often lose the sensitivity, flexibility and strength of the embouchure muscles.
Impaired sound quality and unstable intonation are the most immediate and common consequences of overstrained mouth ring muscles.
Minimization of vertical pressure on the oboe reed by pressing = revitalisation of the diaphragm area
The mouth ring muscle can be trained with the OboFit during an ordinary practice session or even in an orchestra rehearsal. Positioned in the corners of the mouth, the OboFit wings automatically reduce vertical lip pressure. This allows the oboe reed to vibrate much better even if the muscles at the embouchure show signs of fatigue. With the trainer, the typical "pressing" can be counteracted, especially for beginners and oboe students.
Experience has shown that the breath support muscles in the middle chest and diaphragm area are used more intensively and, above all, more consciously.
In addition, feedback confirms that by using the OboFit trainer, the feeling of "you don’t have to press" is stored successfully in the subconscious.
Optimization of the playing angle = positive for posture and air flow
The OboFit has a positive effect on posture and airflow. By positioning the OboFit wings between the teeth of the upper and lower jaw, an oboe posture that is too steep and unfavourable in many respects is counteracted. Thanks to the use of the OboFit trainer, air refractions on the oboe reed are minimized, which has a positive effect on sound and intonation.
